How the finder matches

The finder works from words, not opinions. For each place we read its own menu, site or store page, checked Oct 19, 2026, and copied the item names it uses, such as “Mackinac Island Fudge” or “Paul Thomas Beignet”. A place appears under a craving only if its own words name it. Choose from eleven cravings: cinnamon rolls; muffins, scones and breakfast bakes; a slice of pie; cake or cheesecake; cupcakes and cookies; fudge; chocolates and truffles; caramels, pralines and candy; ice cream and shakes; bread to take home; and a cake for a celebration.

Pick a day and each result shows that day’s published hours, or a note to call ahead when a place does not publish hours. Add places to a list and you get a walking route in Google Maps and a printable list.

We do not list prices or rank anyone. A menu price on a page last updated years ago can be stale, and we cannot source a claim that one fudge beats another. What we can show is who makes what and when they are open.

Cinnamon rolls

Foothill Grill bakes fresh cinnamon rolls every morning and sells them single or by the half dozen; its own advice is to get there early. It is a short drive out, at 995 Morrison Moore Pkwy. The Smith House lists Cinnamon Rolls on its Friday evening family-style menu.

Muffins, scones and breakfast bakes

The Picnic Cafe and Dessertery, on the Square, lists homemade muffins, scones and pastries, a Vegan Muffin and a Large Baked Goods Platter. At the 2026 farmers market, L & R Feathered Goats listed Mennonite sourdough scones.

Pie

The Picnic Cafe sells whole pies, with pecan, pumpkin, apple and key lime among the flavors on its catering page, which asks for 48 hours’ notice on catering orders. The Smith House’s to-go dessert case lists Pecan Pie and Boston Cream Pie.

Cake and cheesecake

The Picnic Cafe’s whole cakes come in flavors including hummingbird, red velvet, carrot, key lime and German chocolate. The Smith House lists Cinnamon Churro Cheesecake and Strawberry Shortcake. Blue Bench Garden’s farm shop sells cakes from its own kitchen on Fridays and Saturdays. For an occasion cake, Nonni’s Bakery makes Number Cakes by appointment, and Sherry’s Sweets-n-Eats takes Wedding and Custom Cakes through its inquiry form.

Cupcakes and cookies

Nonni’s Bakery lists Custom Floral Cupcakes by the dozen, a seven-cupcake bouquet called The McKenna and Gourmet Cookies and Treats. Sherry’s lists Custom Cookies and Cupcakes. Connie’s Ice Cream and Sandwich Shop, by the Square, sells cookies and brownies, including a Hot Fudge Brownie. Blue Bench Garden and the market baker Whisked Bakery list cookies too.

Fudge

Kilwins makes Mackinac Island Fudge in the store in copper kettles on marble tables, and offers samples if you ask. The Dahlonega Fudge Factory makes more than 15 varieties of cream and butter fudge; its candy list includes Dahlonega Nuggets. Paul Thomas Chocolates lists a chocolate-covered Cacao Fudge.

Chocolates and truffles

Paul Thomas Chocolates, at 102 Public Square North, lists Black Cherry Truffles and Chocolate Covered Pretzels and says about 90% of what it sells is made on location. The Fudge Factory lists hand-dipped chocolates, Peanut Butter Cups and Cloud 9 Pretzels. At Bourbon Street Grille, the Paul Thomas Beignet is filled with locally made dark chocolate.

Caramels, pralines and candy

Paul Thomas lists Blood Orange Caramels and Almond Butter Crunch toffee, with its soft caramels cooked in a copper kettle. Kilwins lists TUTTLE Nut Caramels, New Orleans Praline Pecan and Caramel Apples. The Fudge Factory lists Pecan Pralines and Divinity, plus caramel-dipped apples in fall and winter. Dahlonega General Store stocks old-fashioned candy and roasts its peanuts daily.

Ice cream and shakes

Connie’s lists a Banana Split, Espresso Shake, Affogato and Milkshake, in cups, cake cones and waffle cones. Kilwins scoops Original Recipe Ice Cream in fresh waffle cones and lists Sorbetto. DQ Grill and Chill on South Chestatee Street lists the HEATH Blizzard Treat and the Brownie and OREO Cupfection. See the ice cream guide.

Bread to take home

Blue Bench Garden bakes bread for its Friday and Saturday farm shop. The 2026 market bakers listed bread too: Whisked Bakery, and L & R Feathered Goats with Mennonite sourdough. The market’s 2026 season ended Oct 10, and 2027 dates are not published. The Smith House sells a dozen yeast rolls with its to-go family meals.

Gluten-free and vegan

Only one place in this guide marks gluten-free and vegan items on its own menu: the Picnic Cafe and Dessertery, which lists gluten-free toast and a Vegan Muffin. It does not say whether its kitchen is shared, so if you have celiac disease, call (706) 864-1095 before you go. One market baker, L & R Feathered Goats, said in 2026 that it would offer allergy-friendly and flourless options.

A cake for a celebration

Order ahead. The Picnic Cafe asks for 48 hours’ notice, Nonni’s works by appointment, Sherry’s prices each order through its form, and the Fudge Factory takes custom orders for wedding favors and corporate gifts. Lead times and contacts are on custom cakes and home bakers.
