The guide covers bakeries and sweets in Dahlonega, Lumpkin County, Georgia: the dessert cafe, fudge kitchens, chocolatier and ice cream counters around the Public Square, the breakfast spots that bake, restaurant desserts, custom-cake and home bakers, and the farmers market bakers. A brokerage also cares about homes, which is why we have pages on living near the Square and selling a home. Everything else is written for people looking for something sweet.

We are not affiliated with the City of Dahlonega, the Dahlonega Downtown Development Authority, the Dahlonega-Lumpkin County Visitors Bureau, the University of North Georgia, or any bakery, restaurant or event we cover. We link to them because they are our sources; they do not review or endorse our pages. We cannot take a cake order or change anyone’s hours.
How we check
A business’s own website, menu or store page comes first. A directory, such as the DDA’s or the Visitors Bureau’s, comes second, and we never turn a directory’s hours into confirmed hours. Each fact carries a short quote from its source, and those quotes were machine-checked against the saved page text. Every fact shows the date we checked it: Oct 19, 2026 for this edition.
When sources disagree, we name the conflict. The Picnic Cafe’s own site (copyright 2018) gives “30 Public Square N” and 7 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. every day, while the DDA directory and OpenStreetMap put it on Public Square South and the DDA lists longer hours; we show South and the cafe’s own hours and say to call ahead. The DDA listing for Bourbon Street Grille leaves out Thursday, which its own site lists. Places that are closed, moved or not confirmed are listed separately on the bakery directory, never recommended. Our count is our own: 16 bakeries and sweets places we could confirm as of Oct 19, 2026.
No prices, no rankings
We do not list prices. A menu price on a page last updated in 2018 may be stale, and a wrong price is worse than none. We do not rank places or call anything the best, because we cannot source a taste claim. We describe food by the names on each business’s own menu.

Photos
Our photos of the Square and the Gold Museum were taken in Dahlonega. Our food photos are generic photos taken elsewhere; they illustrate a kind of treat and never show a Dahlonega business’s product. Credits are on the photo credits page.
