Thirteen Dahlonega bakeries, cafes, fudge, chocolate and ice cream counters publish exact day-by-day hours. The table below puts all of them side by side, opens on today, and can narrow to who is open right now, using each business’s own published hours.

What the table shows and where the hours come from

Each row is one place and each column is a day, Monday to Sunday. We copy the hours from the business’s own website or store page, not from a directory, and record the date we checked. Connie’s Ice Cream and Sandwich Shop’s day-by-day hours come from its own online ordering page. A dash means the business does not publish hours for that day. Places that bake to order or sell only at the farmers market have no storefront hours, so they are listed under the table instead of in it.

Sunday and Monday

Of the 13 places that publish hours, 12 list Sunday hours. Only Blue Bench Garden is closed on Sundays. Sunday starts later at several counters: Kilwins and Connie’s open at noon and Paul Thomas Chocolates at 12:30 p.m.

Of the same 13, 11 list Monday hours. The Smith House’s October hours do not list Monday, and Blue Bench Garden opens only on Fridays and Saturdays. Every fudge, chocolate, candy and ice cream counter on the Square lists Monday hours.

Tuesday and Wednesday closures

Bourbon Street Grille, the place for beignets, is closed Tuesday and Wednesday on its own site. The Bear Necessities Cafe is closed Tuesday. The Smith House serves lunch only, 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., Tuesday to Thursday, so its Friday evening cinnamon rolls are a Friday plan.

Early openers and late closers

• Before 8 a.m.: DQ Grill and Chill (5:30 a.m., 6:30 a.m. on Sunday), Picnic Cafe and Foothill Grill (7 a.m.).
• Open until 9 p.m. on Friday and Saturday: Paul Thomas Chocolates, Kilwins, The Dahlonega Fudge Factory, Dahlonega General Store and Connie’s.
• Latest: Bourbon Street Grille until 10 p.m. Friday and Saturday, and DQ until 9:15 p.m. every night.

Holidays and December

None of the places in this guide publishes December or holiday hours online, as of Oct 19, 2026. The Visitors Bureau says downtown has extended merchant hours every evening in December:

That is a downtown-wide note, not a promise from any one place. The Smith House posts its hours month by month, and the Fudge Factory says its hours vary by season, so check again before a holiday trip.

Call ahead before you drive

• Picnic Cafe and Dessertery, (706) 864-1095: its own site (copyright 2018) says 7 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. every day, while the DDA directory lists different day-by-day hours. We show the cafe’s own hours, but that page may be out of date.
• The Dahlonega Fudge Factory, (706) 864-3988: its page shows a “New Store Hours” banner, which we use, and an older “Winter Store Hours: Daily 11-7” block.
• Bakers who work by order: Nonni’s Bakery (by appointment), Sherry’s Sweets-n-Eats (order inquiry form), and the farmers market bakers Whisked Bakery and L & R Feathered Goats. The market’s last 2026 date was Oct 10.
