Buying between seasons

Most market bakers publish no shop address or hours, so between seasons the sourced options are these:

  • Sherry’s Sweets-n-Eats takes custom cakes, cupcakes and cookies through the Order Inquiry form on its own site. It also says a self-serve farm stand for sourdough breads, cookies, brownies and cakes is coming soon, with no date or location published.
  • Blue Bench Garden, a family farm shop at 425 Porter Springs Rd (a short drive), sells bread, cookies, cakes and other baked goods made in its own kitchen. It is open Fridays and Saturdays, 8 a.m. to 6 p.m., as listed on its own site, checked Oct 19, 2026.
  • The Christmas Market in Hancock Park, a Women’s Club fundraiser listed from December 5 to December 13, 2026, includes homemade sweets among its goods. See holiday sweets for the rest of the season.

Buying from a home baker

Most market bakers bake at home under Georgia’s cottage food rules. Since House Bill 398 took effect on July 1, 2025, the Georgia Department of Agriculture says cottage food operators no longer need a state license or pay a state licensing fee, and they can sell directly to you, online, at events and to stores and restaurants. Look for the new label statement: “This product was produced at a residential property that is exempt from state inspection. This product may contain allergens.” The Department’s older FAQ web page still shows the pre-2025 answers and old label wording, so treat that page as out of date. The same FAQ page notes that some farmers markets may ask vendors for a Food Sales Establishment License; that is a market’s own rule, separate from the state’s cottage food rules. This is a plain summary, not legal advice. For the longer version, read buying from a Georgia home baker, and for cake orders see custom cakes and home bakers.
